Job Opening – Office Administrator – Part Time 

We are seeking a bilingual (English and Spanish) Office Administrator. We seek a person with the following required skills:

  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office apps
  • Office skills – printer, phone, voice message, clerical support
  • MailChimp or ability to learn it quickly 
  • WordPress or ability to learn it quickly 
  • Communication skills both verbal and written in English and Spanish
  • Organized, punctual, collaborative
  • Able to develop good relationships with leaders and congregation of church and also the wider neighborhood and guests, including very diverse communities

The position is for 24 hours per week and is somewhat flexible with core hours needed. Our preferred office coverage would be either Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Thursday, starting no later than 10 am. The duties of this position include:

  • Building management, approximately 16 hours per week
    • Answer phones, return voice messages, answer doorbell and greet people entering the building
    • Maintain a building use calendar 
    • Negotiate and close on building rental requests
    • Ensure rules for safety and maintenance of the building are enforced 
    • Supervise use of the building during regular office hours
  • Office administration, clerical support and communications, approximately 8 hours per week
    • Produce a weekly announcements newsletter in MailChimp
    • Post announcements on church website and sometimes on other social media
    • Maintain computer files and paper files of important church documents, including a database of members and associates
    • Provide clerical support for clergy and committees of the church
    • Produce the Sunday bulletin in advance of church services 

All staff of Walker Church need to pass a criminal background check. (The church will pay for this after hiring.) This position pays an hourly wage of between $15.00 and $20.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience. This position reports to the pastor and a personnel committee. Benefits include city-mandated “sick and safe time” and annual vacation after one year.
