Opening Smudge

Lao Tzu # 31 Witter Bynner followed by 5 minutes of silence

Even the finest arms are an instrument of evil, a spread of plague, and the way for a vital one to go is not the way of a soldier. But in time of war all civilized in peace turn from their higher to their lower nature.

Arms are an instrument of evil, no measure for thoughtful people until there fail all other choice but sad acceptance of it.  Triumph is not beautiful. One who thinks triumph beautiful Is one with a will to kill, and one with a will to kill shall never prevail upon the world.
It is a good sign when human’s higher nature comes forward, a bad sign when our lower nature comes forward, when retainers take charge and the master stays back as in the conduct of a funeral. The death of a multitude is cause for mourning: conduct your triumph as a funeral.

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 31:31-34 by Brent Bender

God’s Decree: “That’s right. The time is coming when I will make a brand-new covenant with Israel and Judah. It won’t be a repeat of the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt. They broke that covenant even though I did my part as their Master.”

“This is the brand-new covenant that I will make with Israel when the time comes. I will put my law within them—write it on their hearts!—and be their God. And they will be my people. They will no longer go around setting up schools to teach each other about God. They’ll know me firsthand, the dull and the bright, the smart and the slow. I’ll wipe the slate clean for each of them. I’ll forget they ever sinned!”

Announcements

Please save your good condition used items for the Walker Rummage Sale.  We can use clothing, furniture, household items, jewelry, luggage, toys, books, linens, small appliances, and other items.  Please no computers, TVs, or mattresses. It’s our biggest fundraiser, and we made over $7,000 last year to support our mission.

Rummage Sale Set up begins:  Mon, April 18.  Preferably bring it between 9 AM and 8 PM on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19.  Volunteers will be at the church then to receive your clean, usable items.  Starting Wednesday, the volunteers will be fully occupied in organizing and pricing, and will not have time to sort additional contributions.

If rummage is left in the church before then, we will have to discard it, which can cost the church money for an extra waste pickup.  There is no space in the church that is not already being used for our activities. Any questions can be emailed to Lulu

Rosen Movement Classes at Walker Church

My Wednesday morning Rosen movement class continues at Walker Church. I would love for you to come and experience this gentle movement approach with a great group of people.

Please consider joining on Wednesday mornings from 9-10am at Walker Church, Minneapolis in the sanctuary.  A free introductory class is available to anyone who would like to try this Rosen class.  The cost is $5-$10, on a sliding fee scale. Six class packages $25-$50 (if the cost is a deterrent please contact me to discuss options). This class is ongoing, one hour, weekly.

You are welcome to sign up ahead or drop in ANYTIME.  Rosen Movement offers a simple and effective hour of movement with music that is designed to keep the joints healthy, invite body awareness, improve alignment, relax muscles, and expand the breath! Classes are offered in an atmosphere of camaraderie, creating a feeling of well-being and relaxation in order to prevent physical difficulties and support aging gracefully.

Plan to wear comfortable clothing. In Rosen we usually go barefooted or wear socks. If you or a friend are interested or have questions contact me (contact info below) or just come to a class.
