Smudge

Lao Tzu followed by 5 minutes of silence

 # 26 Mitchell translation
The heavy is the root of the light.  The unmoved is the source of all movement.

Thus the Master travels all day without leaving home.
However splendid the views, she stays serenely in herself.

Why should the lord of the country flit about like a fool?
If you let yourself be blown to and fro, you lose touch with your root.
If you let restlessness move you, you lose touch with who you are.

Scripture read by Greg Garman

Luke 15:1-3, 8-10
Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to him.  And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, “This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them.”  So he told them this parable:  “What woman having ten silver coins, if she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?  When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’  Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Hello Fellow Walker Gardeners!

Last year we lost our window of opportunity to plant roses by the peace pole.  The time to plant them this year is rapidly closing too.  And, after spending the last week and half weeding the beds along the north side, and looking at the site very carefully, I think that where the pole got planted calls for some rethinking of the design. Those of you who are interested in this project, or any other landscaping project, should meet up at the next community meal Tuesday Sep 13th.  I hope to get them into the ground no later than the 20th of the month.   There are many, many gardening possibilities and projects around the church that we could work on individually, or collectively.  Please send me an email, text of phone call whether you will meet me there or not. contact Kristine,

Or maybe there are recent practices you want to see become traditions. David will be holding an informal meeting of ideas during the potluck after Homecoming Sunday Noonish September 11th at a corner table in the dining hall. Stop by and give him an earful. Or get an earful from other interested celebrants.  David West
