Lao Tzu # 1 Witter Bynner followed by 5 minutes of silence

Existence is beyond the power of words to define. Terms may be used but are none of them absolute.  In the beginning of heaven and earth there were no words, words came out of the womb of matter; and whether a man dispassionately sees to the core of life or passionately sees the surface, the core and the surface are essentially the same, words making them seem different only to express appearance. If name be needed, wonder names them both: From wonder into wonder existence opens.

Welcome, Announcements & Offering

Scripture Psalm 71:1-6 read by Nancy Larsen

In you, O LORD, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame.  In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me and save me.  Be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.  Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel.

For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth.  Upon you I have leaned from my birth; it was you who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you.

I will be offering the study twice each Wednesday at noon at Walker and at 6 pm with a soup supper at Simpson UMC, 2740 First Ave South. (Suggest parking on 28th St and come in the Red Door off 28th

All are welcome at either gathering.  Come when it best fits in your schedule.  I do not promise easy conversations, but I also promise no shaming or berating.”

Peace to you as we enter the Lenten Season, Pastor Walter Lockhart
