Opening Smudge

Lao Tzu # 15 Witter Bynner followed by 5 minutes of silence.

Long ago the land was ruled with a wisdom too fine, too deep, to be fully understood and, since it was beyond humans full understanding, only some of it has come down to us, as in these sayings: Alert as a winter-farer on an icy stream, Wary as one in ambush, Considerate as a welcome guest, Selfless as melting ice, Green as an uncut tree, Open as a valley. And this one also, Roiled as a torrent,

Why roiled as a torrent?  Because when one is in turmoil how shall all find peace save by staying patient till the stream clears?  How can a life keep its course if one will not let it flow?  Those who flow as life flows know they need no other force: they feel no wear, they feel no tear, they need no mending, no repair.

Scripture Reading John 12:12-16 by Jesse Watkins

The next day the great crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord– the King of Israel!”
Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it; as it is written:  “Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion. Look, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!”  His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written of him and had been done to him.
