SOFFA support group:  Wednesday, May 4, 6:30 pm to 8 pm in the mediation room.  This support group for the family and friends of transgender people meets every Wednesday.   FFI soffamn@yahoo.com

Ecstatic Movement:  Wednesday, May 4, 7:30 pm.  Movement & dance for adults who are playful, sassy, fun-loving, fierce, curious, introspective, and adventurous on the dance floor.  There are sessions every Wednesday and you are welcome to join in any time.  Arrive at 7:15 to check in and warm up.  Cost: $10-15. Private HOBT board meeting:  Thursday, May 5, 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the conference room.

Hoop Twin Cities:  Thursday, May 5, 7 to 8 pm. Free, fun & informal hoola hooping for all ages is held every Thursday through May 12.  After this evening the group will outdoors in different parks during the summer and will be back at Walker in the fall FFI hoopjeans@gmail.com

Rosen Movement:  Wednesday, May 11, 9 am to 10 am. There are sessions every Wednesday and you are welcome to drop in anytime.  It is a simple and effective hour of movement with music designed to keep the joints healthy, invite body awareness, improve alignment, relax muscles, and expand the breath!  Wear comfortable clothing. The cost per session is $ 5-10 sliding scale.  A free introductory session is available. Walker Singers Rehearsal:  Tuesday, May 17, 7 to 8 pm led by Jim McCreary.  After this rehearsal the Singers will take a summer break and begin rehearsing again this fall.

 

Announcements

Pastor Walter Lockhart will be attending the Methodist Annual Conference in Portland from after Sunday Celebration on May 8 until Saturday, May 21.  He will be available by phone during this time. If a need for pastoral care arises you can call him.

 

Be a part of the flag dance in Sunday Celebration on May 15!  Silk flags will represent tongues of flame for Pentecost. No dance experience needed, but you have to be able to run.  People who have already learned the flag dance as well as new faces are encouraged to join.  Contact Janet Skidmore at 612-965-3335, or at janetskidmore56@gmail.com.

 

Burma Shave History Sidewalk Rally:  Saturday, May 7, 2 pm to 4 pm

You are all invited to the Burma Shave History Sidewalk Rally at the site of the original Burma Shave factory, 2019 East Lake Street. Hear the band play Sousa era marches, Hear the choir sing early American choral music, Meet ‘The Horse ‘, a direct descendant of the horses that moved this building to this sight in 1892, enter the jingle writing and clean shave contests, and help us raise money to fund a historical survey (through Preservation Alliance of Minnesota) to preserve the history of this historic place.  FFI Steve Sandberg
